Covington Ventures is a small strategy and implementation firm, dedicated to helping our clients turn vision into reality.  With a mix of experience from Fortune 100 to start-ups to non-profits, we add value with our clients by doing more than planning.  We walk through the change journey, taking positions of leadership - to work alongside our clients. Sometimes, we invest equity in the teams of early-stage ideas.  Think of us as expert planners, navigators and implementers.

Integrity - first.  Honesty and follow-through are foundational to all we do and our clients must have a track record of honesty and transparency at all levels of the organization.  Integrity and passion fuel the soul.  And, Integrity is more than honesty of words and action.  Integrity encompasses the entire endeavor, the entire solution.  Integrity of of the connective tissue between strategy, people, process and technology.  

Strategy -  focus is fundamental.  Singleness of market-relevant purpose for all actions - this is the stuff of champions.  Our clients must have the potential to be industry leaders within 3 years.  This often involves taking risks and committing to significant change.  We believe Peter Drucker and Michael Porter understand Strategy.  Further, we believe McKinsey & Co., Boston Consulting Group, Bain, Booz Allen Hamilton and Accenture have all added key elements to the consultants' role in defining and implementing solid business strategy.

Growth - of profits and people.  Profit is the best indicator of viability.  But, it does not completely define success.  We strive for growth of individuals, teams and organizations.  We believe that Kaplan & Norton understand growth from a more wholistic point of view than most.  By providing clear objectives at the firm, team and individual levels - everone gains clarity and alignment of purpose.  Everett Rogers captured the science and mystery of Diffusion of Innovations and Daryl Conner expanded our understanding of the importance of transformation and realization - and the methodologies needed for Sponsorship to achieve such realization.  The people side of any journey is the most complex, and most interesting.

UPDATE (2012):  I recently joined the Partner team at Credera consulting.  I am thankful to all who I've had the privilege to work with over the years.  You have taught me much and I am grateful to you.  For all the journeys and steep climbs, for all the long hours, for all the clients.  Always remember that all people have value, not for how they perform, but simply for being people.  The more grace we extend one another, the more innovation and creativity we will see - and even if not that - we grow stronger together through the grace.  I'll be continuing on the journey of consulting, attempting to grow as a practitioner and thought leader helping clients craft and achieve their vision while growing, challenging and leading people.  Keep climbing.  The jouney is the juice.
